The precursor of the Association of Mechanical Engineers of Slovenia was the Association of Mechanical Engineers and Technicians of Slovenia (AMETS). It was established in 1961 at the initiative of Prof. Albert Struna. It was then that its organisation structure was formed – a means of connection of local and professional associations under an umbrella Association. In 2002, the Association of Mechanical Engineers and Technicians was renamed into the Association of Mechanical Engineers of Slovenia (AMES), whereas the status of all members of the Association remained the same. Today, AMES unites 15 members under its wing. The Association of Mechanical Engineers of Slovenia collaborates with educational, development and research organisations, with other associations and various other organisations and institutes. |

The Association also collaborates with other associations and organisations outside Slovenia’s borders in order to advance and enforce mechanical engineering and its professionalism. The Association’s vision is to become and preserve the recognisable role of discipline, practice and science in the area of mechanical engineering and other fields stemming from it. The Association’s mission is to promote, develop, educate and exchange experiences between societies and their members through organising consultations, education conferences, workshops and the continuous informing and following of technical and technological development of activity within the scope of the rich field of mechanical engineering. |
